Connection and character anlysis

In the book "Of Mice and Men", there are events that happenend in real life that the book had connected to. Throughout the book George and Lennie were looking for a job and moved from state to state to have money to pay for there daily needs. George and Lennie move a lot and get jobs from different states they are referred to as migrant workers, workers who look for work and go anywhere for it. George and Lennie need the money because during this time being economically stable was a hard thing to obtain because of " The Great Depression". "The Great Depression" was a time where the economy took a bad overturn, banks had to close down and the money people stored were taken by the bank. Most of the people had to keep moving from place to place in order to stay afloat just like George and Lennie.

The Character that I chose is Lennie. Lennie being a person who is a "Small Person". But none the less a caring and loving person. From the book Lennie has a dead mouse in his pocket which of whom he pets and treats it like an alive mouse. The fact that he can't differentiate an alive mouse to a dead mouse, but people like me and you can be able to. Just because the mouse is dead, Lennie still treated it with care and cared for it. Lennie kept the mouse safe. Although Lennie is a big guy he still is very caring and loving person.

Summary of the Great Depression

Tyler Dureg
Noah Apuya
The Great Depression was the longest economic downturn for the western industrial world.
"Bank deposits were uninsured and thus as banks failed people simply lost their savings." It put many people unemployed  from jobs, it wiped out millions of stock investors on wall street and caused steep declines in industrial output. Due to the spending and investments to stock that were lost caused business to slow down production and made them to fire the workers because of lack of money to pay the workers. Stocks bought with borrowed money were wiped out due to the stock market crash, which effected banks  that people borrowed from because they lost millions of shares that were traded that day. Due to the loss of invested shared stocks borrowed by the banks money that caused businesses to slow down production and not make profit to pay the workers forced them to lay off the workers.

"The imbalance between the rich and the poor, with 0.1 percent of society earning the same total income as 42 percent, combined with production of more and more goods and rising personal debt, could not be sustained." Due to all the production and no workers it caused the rich to become poor and the poor become even more poor. With the drop that happened two years later the farmers had to sell their farm to the rich but it didn't help the rich at all because it did not make much profit to help them sustain themselves. Due to no workers it caused businesses to slow down all production and caused the rich to be poor and the poor to be more poor.

"A Coney Island Life" Final

"A Coney Island Life" Essay Final

Life always has complications, knowing that life will have it's complications we have to solve. Some of these complications that we either have or have not finished. "A Coney Island Life" by James L. Weil tells us about the way he thinks life is just games and rides that bring us closer to our goal.  Problems present themselves throughout our lives, "A Coney Island Life" by James L. Weil explains to us that problems in our life should be treated as answers waiting to be solved.

In "A Coney Island Life" by James L. Weil the author compares chances in life to a carousel game. "... how many more times around I have to catch that brass ring sun before the game is up".  He expresses that life has many opportune moments to solve a problem just like how a carousel game is played. He explains how we have many chances to solve the many problems we have. " I take perhaps my last ride on this planet carrousel". Life has a finite amount of chances to solve something.  He explains that time is a precious thing to be hold, that it has a timer ticking down every time we hold on to time something may be left undone.

Throughout life we have problems that present themselves. Problems already solved or not touched at all. "...and seen my helium hopes breaks skyward without me".  A balloon(s) are his hopes that he as not reached in his go around when he first arrived.  A balloon being represented as his hope or dreams as the balloon flies higher he is still the same not being able to reach them. "...now arms filled with dolls I threw so much for..". Dolls are achievements that we reached by having skills to acquire them. Achievements that he tried hard for, feeling that these achievements aren't as important than what thought to be.

Throughout our lives we either complete our tasks set by ourselves or we just leave them to stay the same and be incomplete. In "A Coney Island Life" By James L. Weil shows that we have many chances to complete our unfinished business and make them better. We have finite possibilities to solve them but we don't know when it's the last, so we should be grateful
to have the opportunities to complete them.

Metaphor Poem Final

  Metaphor Poem

A little weird from the bottom to the top
Looking Big and scary on the outside
But on the inside a compassionate and protective type of being.
It's gonna be kinda seemingly weird but for the time being
Don't be scared of this exterior but take a look of the interior.

The open of this friendship will begin weird
Not showing what I am, still concealing
What I really am, you are just searing the top of this.

Alright First off, let me say we'll be friends in some little time.
Yeah, I used to be a little uncomfortable those other times.
Gotta give me the right stuff  to keep you in my mind.
Being comfortable, now thats a sign.

When we were hanging, this isn't nothin'.
This could actually becoming somthin'.
You know I'm fine with you becoming my friend
You'll get my protection, cause

You're my friend.
