Macbeth Act II Questions

1. She is not a cold blooded killer but, she is one of those words. She is cold hearted but,not a killer because she didn't kill anyone except our liking for her character. She shows her cold heartedness in this direct quote “From now on, I know what your love’s worth. Are you afraid to match our acts with your ambitions?” She insults Macbeth and tells him that the love that her and his love is worth absolutely nothing if you aren’t ambitious. “We fail? Just screw up your courage to the uttermost, and we won’t fail.” Yet again she shows her cold heartedness and tells Macbeth that his courage is but a small price to pay for kingship.

2.She faints in Act II to serve as a kind of magician’s tricks, doing something to draw away attention from the illusion. Macbeth killed the servants and Macbeth’s wife needed to draw attention “Oh, How I wish I hadn’t lost my self control and killed them.” In the book she pretends to faint to draw away any suspicion to Macbeth. “Help me please.[Pretending to faint].”

3. Macbeth changes his attitude pretty quickly because he tries to cover everything up and act as though he had not seen everything or done anything wrong. “If I had died an hour before this happened, I’d have lived a blessed life span.” He tries to assure the others that he is in shock as the others.  “ Who could hold back, that had a loving heart and the courage to show it?” Macbeth tells this to the others to show that he is a loyal person to Duncan and still in death, even though he killed Duncan.

4. Lady Macbeth didn't kill the king instead of Macbeth  because of the similarity King Duncan has to her father. “I’d Duncan hadnt look like my father in his sleep, I'd have done it myself.” When she learned that Macbeth had not planted to daggers in the King’s room she told him he was a coward and did it herself explaining that dead and sleeping people are like pictures of themselves. “Coward! Give me the daggers! Sleeping and dead people are like pictures of themselves.”

5.To reign as king, Macbeth needs to change his nature just as his wife said. “ Yet I’m worried about your nature.” Macbeth needs to change from a righteous soldier to a ruthless king because his kingdom will easily fall if he does things in righteous mean. “You want greatness. You are not without ambition. But you lack the ruthlessness.” Macbeth’s wife wants Macbeth to be more ruthless to make sure that his kingship will last many years.
